Canada's lone NBA team is holding training camp in Victoria this year.
The Toronto Raptors announced on Thursday the 2017 camp will be held at the CARSA facility on the Campus of the University of Victoria on September 26- 29th.
The team will hold an open intra-squad game on Thursday September 28 but the practice sessions will be closed to the public.
“It’s an honour to visit a different part of Canada and prepare for our season in the first-class facilities at the University of Victoria, “said Raptors head coach Dwayne Casey. “We are extremely proud being Canada’s only NBA franchise."
Last season, the Raptors held their training camp in Burnaby, followed by a preseason game at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
The last NBA training camp to be hosted in Victoria was when the Vancouver Grizzlies held their preseason workouts at the Naden base gymnasium in Esquimalt in 1998.
The Raptors have become more popular in Canada over the past few years with the team’s continued success as a top team in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
