A traffic flagger was struck early Thursday afternoon on Sooke Road and Luxton Avenue.
It happened about 12:15 p.m. when witnesses say a traffic flagger was attempting to stop a vehicle travelling in the east bound lane when she was hit by a small, grey hatchback. West Shore RCMP say the impact from the collision sent both the vehicle and flagger into a ditch.
Ambulance and fire attended the scene and the flagger was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say this is a reminder to all motorists to take extra caution in construction zones and highway projects where flaggers and work crews are working.
The collision remains under investigation by the West Shore RCMP Traffic Unit and Worksafe BC.
