A tragic incident Christmas Day in Oak Bay has left two children aged 4 and 6 dead and an adult male severely injured.
"Our members attended the residence here and located two deceased parties and one injured party. The injured party has been taken to hospital."
That is Oak Bay Police Department Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties speaking to the media Monday night after the bodies were located in an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Beach Drive. Forensic investigators have spent Tuesday combing the area for clues following the suspicious deaths. There has been no official confirmation, but neighbours say a father and two children were living in the apartment.
Another tenant of the building says it’s a quiet neighbourhood and a quiet building.
"This is typical Oak Bay, very quiet, very British and everybody is quite respectful of each other and supportive of each other and like I say this building has been very quiet. We have young families and we have retirees in here and there's never been any problem."
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police say there is no threat to the public, and they are not seeking any further suspects.
