Two UVic students were killed, when the bus they were travelling on crashed Friday night near Port Alberni.
The incident happened on a gravel road between Port Alberni and Bamfield. UVic says in a statement the students were on the way to the Bamfield Marine Science Centre when the crash occurred.
The University is extending heartfelt thoughts, wishes and condolences to the family and friends of the students killed in the crash, and is offering support for those who need it. The University and RCMP haven't released the names of the students, to help protect the families' privacy.
The crash happened around 10 o'clock, there were about 40 people on the bus, all of them believed to be adults.
Three people were airlifted to the hospital in Victoria with critical or serious injuries, while the others were taken to another hospital for minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the RCMP.
