The Nanaimo man accused of murdering a woman in Brentwood Bay over the weekend is facing 2 additional charges.
Alan Charles Chapman was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death of Emily Caruana, following a violent encounter at a Meadowlark Lane home about 12:30 A.M. Saturday.
During a court appearance this morning Chapman was also chsarged with a count each of aggravated assault against the murder victim's uncle, John Caruana, and her boyfriend Justin Booth.
Both men were severely injured.
Investigators have not released any information about Chapman's relationship to the victim, or a motive. A GoFundMe page to help pay for the 20 year old victim's funeral, and expenses now being incurred by the family has so far raised over $16-thousand.
The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crimes Unit has taken control of the investigation and police expect to be on scene for days.
