Victoria Police Deprtment will honour an officer who died after spending 30 years in a coma following an on-duty collision in what should have been a routine call.
Cnst. Ian Jordan was 35 years old when his police cruiser was struck by a second cruiser as they rushed to the scene of a reported break and enter in progress in downtown Victoria on September 22nd, 1985.
He died at age 66, on April 11th this year. He received a funeral with full police honours.
On Friday at 1:30 Cnst Jordan's badge will be installed along with a memorial plaque alongside his fellow fallen VicPD officers in the Hall of Honour.
Jordan's widow Hillary, and son Mark -- who was just 16-months old at the time his father was injured -- will both be on hand.
Chief Manak will also escort them to the cairn outside the detachment where Jordan's name has already been inscribed, and upstairs to the new "Cst. Ian Jordan Room."
