VicPd are letting us know about an arrest in which the suspect was found to be carrying quite an arsenal of weapons. It started last Thursday with a report of two men using counterfeit money at a business in the 800-block of Esquimalt Road. No suspects were found.
Then the next day police were called to the 1500-block of Fort Street for a report of 2 men who appeared to be taking off handcuffs. One man matched the description of one of the fraud suspects from Esquimalt.
Officers located the men near the intersection of Douglas & Yates. Pepper spray had to be used when a struggle ensued and one of the suspects got out a knife.
A search yielded a total of five knives on the man, including a prohibited switchblade, a baton, bear spray, illegal drugs, a replica handgun and over $7,000 in counterfeit cash.
The man has since been linked to at least two additional fraud investigations. He faces numerous charges involving weapons, drugs and fraud.
The second man was arrested for breaching his probation and released on a promise to appear.
