A Victoria animal activist is facing a charge of mischief for allegedly posting signs declaring a longtime horse carriage company was closed for business.
Jordan Reichert is the west coast campaigner for the Animal Protection Party of Canada , and has actively opposed the use of horses in downtown Victoria.
On New Year's Day signs were posted at the operating site of Tally-Ho Carriage Tours declaring "Closed for Business under Vehicle for Hire Bylaw, effective January 1st, 2018."
Reichert who appeared live on CFAX 1070, publicly admitted to posting the signs, photographing them, and circulating a news release.
Tally-Ho says it was going through the process of renewing its sightseeing stand lease, and was still allowed to operate.
Business owner Donna Friedlander claims the stunt cost her business over the holiday, and the company received calls from concerned customers who believed the signs were posted by the city.
Reichert is expected in court May 2nd to face the mischief charge.
