Victoria City Council has asked the CRD to work with city staff to see if there is a way to avoid losing 63 angled parking spots along Dallas Road.
The spots -- between Dock and Lewis Streets -- might be sacrificed because of installation of the sewage forcemain between Clover and Ogden Points, and the addition of a 2-way protected bike lane.
But Councillor Margaret Lucas says that news concerns most councillors -- so the matter has been sent back for a second look:
"They're going to be working with our city staff to bring back to council in the new year that either says there's nothing else we can do if we're going to put these bike lanes in, and then we'll have to decide whether we're going to go forward with it."
Public engagement sessions have been scheduled next month, with city council expecting an update in February or March.
Meantime, about a dozen more spots near Paddon Avenue could also be lost because Dallas Rd. is so close to the sea crews wouldn't be able to build up the south side of the road.
