Organizers of the annual Victoria Day Parade say Monday’s event will be a more scaled down version from past years.
Kelly Kurta is with the Greater Victoria Festival Society says they have heard from many that the parade is too long.
“We respect and listen to the community about how it’s too long for the older and the younger people so we want to cut it down and give everyone a better experience.”
Speaking on C-FAX, Kurta says they have cut about 20 entries, noting there will still be about 100 entries and over 3,000 participants.
It is Victoria's largest parade led by the Canadian Forces and features Canadian and American marching bands, community and commercial floats, cultural shows and festive clowns.
The parade begins at 9am at Mayfair Mall and continues along Douglas Street finishing at the intersection of Douglas and Humboldt Street.
