The Victoria HarbourCats have fired their head coach, severing ties with coach Brian McRae
McRae was coach for the last two seasons. His contract was terminated on Sunday.
Taking over is associate coach and former Major League Baseball infielder Todd Haney. He’ll take the reins for 2019 in the first year of a two-year agreement.
Haney played parts of four season in the Major Leagues, suiting up for the Cubs, Mets and Expos, after being selected by the Seattle Mariners.
He served as associate coach with the HarbourCats in 2018, when the team missed the playoffs by one game.
Last week, Brad Norris-Jones left after seven years as GM. He's moved onto the front office of the Pacific FC soccer club.
