For 53 years the Rathskeller Schnitzel Haus restaurant has served up authentic German fare - schnitzels, bratwurst, cabbage, cakes, and of course - beer.
But Sunday Victoria's only German restaurant closed its doors for the last time.
Owner/operator Andrea Sims is the second generation of her family to run the restaurant, working alongside her father for years. He died 12 years ago, but evidence of the family history in the restaurant is everywhere with pictures on the walls, and knick knacks collected overseas.
But Sims says she and her mother agreed it was time to sell - and, with the exception of the special family items - everything has been sold.
" The building, everything, the restaurant, everything inside of it. Except for some special items everything is sold."
Sims doesn't know what the new owner has planned:
"No we don't. But we have had some people through. They are an investment company who has picked it up, and I think there's going to be some big changes in this area - specifically Harris Green over the next few years. So they're sort of going to be waiting on that. I hope to lease it out in the meantime. And then, some changes, yeah."
Sims says since word got out that the restaurant is closing old friend and customers have been coming by to say good bye - or, auf wiedersehen.
