The number of tips investigators in Washington State have received since releasing DNA-generated composites of a suspect in a cold case involving a Victoria couple has now topped 100.
Three age progression photos show the face of the man investigators believe may be responsible for raping and shooting 18 year old Tanya Van Cuylenborg (kye-len-borg), and beating and strangling her 20 year old boyfriend, Jay Cook, in November 1987.
On Monday it was reported there were 70 tips -- but now Acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie of Saanich Police says those numbers have almost doubled:
"When I was speaking to the investigator in Washington State, they've actually received over 125 tips so far. So right now they are going through the process of collating all those tips and following up."
Saanich Police remain involved in the case, but Washington State sheriffs are the lead investigators.
