A special international photography exhibition returns to the Royal BC Museum.
"Wildlife Photographer of the Year" returns to the museum and runs through to March 24th for an exclusive Western Canadian engagement.
One of the finalists in this year's competition is award-winning photographer, Jess Findlay from Vancouver with his powerful image of a loon and her chick, titled: Footing the Bill. Findlay says they are a spectacular bird with a stunning plumage.
"Just the colours and the patterns on just lends so well to close up photography and it was nice to be able to, over the past couple of years, sort of have a few images in mind that have come to fruition."
Findlay says the exhibit promotes a deeper look at the meaning behind the photographs.
"The photography we follow now is on Instagram or Facebook, and it's typically on this cursory glance as we are scrolling through quickly, and I think having a medium like these massive prints here it really allows people to go a bit slower and really understand what is really happening.
The popular, family-friendly photo display, now in its 54th year, comes from the Natural History Museum in London, and showcases outstanding nature photography from around the world.
